AC/DC - Back In Black
CD - Epic - EPC510765-2 - 1980 (2013)

Dirty thrash metal.  Fairly average.  Love the Psycho influenced track.

Adam and the Ants - Kings of the Wild Frontier

I loved Adam Ant when I was a kid.  Stylish pop rock at it's best but very cheesy in retrospect.

Compilation of Aerosmith hits

Aerosmith - Pump
MP3 - 1989

Dirty rock from Aerosmith

AFX - Hangable Auto Bulb
MP3 - 2005

One of Richard D James more commercial & upbeat ventures.  A great mini album that earns it's place in your collection.

AFX - Chosen Lords
CD - Chrysalis / Reflex  - 2006 - No Catalogue Number / Cardboard Sleeve

A stunning compilation of the best AFX tracks from the Lords series with a couple of Aphex Twin tracks thrown in.  The is Richard D James at his best.

One of my all time favourite albums
AFX Orphaned Deejay Selek 2006-08

AFX - Orphaned Deejay Selek 2006-08
CD - Warp  - WAP384CD - 2015 - Cardboard Cut Out Sleeve

Only just picked this up, is this what you call Acid Techno? Some pretty mental loops going on here.

Chill out music from the french duo who fuse modern & 70's music style

More chill out from the French Duo

Alice In Chains - Facelift
CDR - Columbia - CK46075 - 1990

Great Stoner Rock

Alice In Chains - Dirt
CD - Columbia / Sony - COL472330-2 - 1992

A great album that suffers a little from overly whining vocals

Alice In Chains - Alice in Chains
CD - Columbia / Sony - COL48114-2 - 1993

Probably the most straight rock that Alice In chains have done

Alice In Chains - Jar of Flies / Sap
CDx2 - Columbia / Sony - 475718-2 - 1994 - Import
LPx2 - Music On Vinyl / Columbia / Sony - MOVLP086 / 88697685411 - 2010 - 180g / Side 4 Etched

This back to back EP is absolutely fantastic.  Short & sweet but much more variation & ingenuity.

One of my all time favourite albums
Black Gives Way To Blue

Alice In Chains - Black Gives Way To Blue
CD - EMI / Parlaphone / Virgin - 5099930826625 - 2013

All Saints - All Saints
MP3 - London - 1999

Not sure how this got into my collection but I guess they're OK if you like that kind of thing

All Saints - Black Coffee
MP3 - WEA International - 2000

Another stray album

Allen, Lily - Alright, Still
MP3 - 2006

Entertaining modern pop

Altern8 - Full on Mask Hysteria
CDR - Network Records - TOPCD1 - 1992

Despite having aged very quickly I still love this album.  Altern8 never received the popularity they deserved & brought underground rave to the pop charts alongside greats such as The Prodigy.  But where as The Prodigy modified their singles to create a timeless debut album, Altern8 effectively just provided a compilation of their tunes in their original form.
Evapor8 Armageddon
Altern8 - Evapor8 / Armageddon
12" - 88 Acid Revival / Network Records / Pinnacle - NWKT38 - 1992

A great collection of 4 remix tracks from the above album

Amorphous Androgynous - Tales of Ephidrena
CD - Astralwerks - ASW6101-0777-7-88238-2-7 - 1993 - US import

This is Amorphous Androgynous in its original electronic ambient form & is effectively the second FSOL (Future Sound Of London) album, sandwiched between their debut Accelorator & the stunning Lifeforms album.  Gaz Cobain explained to me that they released this under the amorphous moniker to give the record label an exercise in marketing anonymous music prior to handing over the following Lifeforms release.  This makes this album somewhat of a hidden gem, most closely resembling FSOL's later ISDN album.

One of my all time favourite albums
The Isnes
Amorphous Androgynous - The Isnes
CD - Artful Records / Universal - FSOLCD102 - 2002

I imagine anyone who already had Tales Of Ephidrina in their collection may have felt a little ripped of by this album, I know I certainly did.  Following a long running series of FSOL albums the decision was made to pursue a new direction of new age hippy acoustic ambient music.  The old Amorphous Androgynous name was resurected for this purpose ignoring its previous use as an electronic act.  I guess in it's genre there isn't much wrong with this album, but it isn't FSOL & unsuspecting buyers will be dissappointed.

Amorphous Androgynous - The Mello Hippo Disco Show
CD - Artful Records / Universal - FSOLCD103 - 2002

FSOL have used their usual method of extracting a single track from an album & extracting it out into an EP.  This is a method which they used to great success with FSOL & it still works within the Amourphous Androgynous arm making this a suitable extension of the Isnes.
Amorphous Androgynous - The Cartel Vol.1

Amorphous Androgynous, The - The Cartel Vol.1
CD - MCPS - FSOLD007 - 2013

Another ressurection of the Amorphous Androgynous name with another change of direction.  The Cartel series of albums are a fusion of psychedlic rock & funk in the style of a movie soundtrack, featuring contributions from many noted musicians.

Anathema - Judgement
MP3 - Koch International - 1999

This really is doom metal at it's most dreadful & quite how it hasn't been deleted from my server yet is beyond me.

Anathema - The Crestfallen / Pentecost III
MP3 - Peaceville - 2001

More depressing drugery.

Annihilator - The Best OF
MP3 - 2004

Compialtion of material from Speed Metal freaks Annhilator.

Anthrax - Among The Living
MP3 - Megaforce / Island - 1987

I've never been a huge Anthrax fan as despite their success I never really saw anything special in their breed of thrash.  But having heard & enjoyed some of their live material I suspect it may be a case of a great live band that doesn't retain it's energy when produced in a studio.

Anthrax - Make Me Laugh
12" Picture Disc - Island - 12ISP379 - 1988

I bought this more for the picture disc than anything.  It's pretty freaky watching it spin on the record player.

Anthrax - State Of Euphoria
MP3 - Megaforce / Island - 1988

More thrash metal from the ever popular Anthrax

Anthrax - Persistance Of Time
MP3 - Megaforce / Island - 1990

More thrash

Anthrax - Attack of the Killer B's
CDR - 1994

Now this is really different.  This album is made entirely tongue in cheek with great humour & forays into rap helped along with the Public Enemy collaboration of Bring the Noise.  This humour of this album really works for me & lead me to investigate the spin off band SOD (Stomtroopers Of Death) who many of these tracks truly belong to.

Anti Nowhere League, The - We Are The League
MP3 - Original Masters - 1982

Purpously offensive Punk Rock.  Very funny but very rough also.

Aphex Twin - I Care Because You Do
CD - Warp / Chrysalis - WarpCD30 - 1995

Richard D James really does release a huge array of material with this being one of his slower outings.  Not bad but nowhere near the heights of some of his other material

Aphex Twin - Come To Daddy EP
MP3 - Warp - 1997

Perhaps one of Richard D James's more commercial outings, this release is bursting at the seems with energy that makes it impossible not to like.  Keep your eyes out for the Chris Cunningham music video also.  The uncut version is truly awesome.

Aphex Twin - Selected Ambient Works Vol.1: 1985-1992
CD - BMG/Chrysalis - AMB9322CD - 1998

This is perhaps the best Aphex Twin album out there.  Possibly even one of the best electro-ambient albums to boot.  The atmosphere on this record really sucks you in & it is enjoyable from start to finish.

One of my all time favourite albums

Aphex Twin - Selected Ambient Works Vol.2: 1985-1992
CDx2 - Warp - WARPCD21 - 1994

Now this really is a puzzle.  This is the Complete opposite end of Aphex Twin & I really can't understand why it was given the Ambient Works moniker, simply because it has zero resemblence to volume one.  It's a reasonably competent album if you like your ambience sparse, with no beats in sight at all & just various repeated noises to get you through.  I have to say the track listing is rather unique, with each track represented by a blurry close up image & no text.  However if you look it up online you will find the text equivalent of these titles.
Richard D James

Aphex Twin - Richard D James
CD - Sonic / Warp - Son139 / WARPCD43

Aphex Twin - Drukqs
CDx2 - Warp - WARPCD92 / LC02070 - 2001

This album is a real grower & features some of the more obscure Aphex Twin output.  At first you may find it a little odd, but over time it sinks its hooks into you until you realise this is a great album.
Aphex Twin - Syro

Aphex Twin - Syro
CD - BMG/Chrysalis/Warp - WARPCD247LC02070 - 2015

Wow, what can I say. This album is simply stunning & a real return to form. Some real grooves going on here.

One of my all time favourite albums
Computer Controlled Acoustic Instruments

Aphex Twin - Computer Controlled Acoustic Instruments Pt2
CD - Warp - WAP375CD - Card Case

An enjoyable short & snappy outing

Aphex Twin - Cheetah

Aphex Twin - Cheetah
CDx2 - Warp - WAP391CD - 2016

This was a real surprise, the low key cheesy packaging with literally no information other that the title is hiding a bit of a gem.  It seems a little simple at first but it's also really addictive.
Aphex Twin - Collapse EP

Aphex Twin - Collapse EP
CD - Warp - WAP426CD - 2018

Not so enthusiastic with this one, it feels like it's veering more towards AFX than Aphex Twin

Arctic Monkeys - Whatever People Say I Am Thats What I'm Not
MP3 - 2006

Haven't listened to this properly yet..

Art Of Noise, The - In Visible Silence
MP3 - Polydor - 1986

Slightly obscure 80's act who I am struggling to clasiffy, so I won't.

Astral Projection - Dancing Galaxy
CD - Transient Records - TRANRE612-CD - 1997

90's Trance outfit.  Good if you like that kind of thing.  Wears out a bit too quickly for me.

Astralasia - Axis Mundi
CD - Magick Eye - MEYCD9 - 1995

Another 90's trance album

Aubrey - Unscrambled Memories
LPx2 - Textures / Shady Acorns - TEXTLP001 - Undated

I picked this up on a whim & really don't know much about it. I have only listened to it once so forgive me If I can't remember what it sounds like.

Audioslave - Audioslave
CD - Epic - 2002

In principle the idea of Audioslave's line up sounded awesome.  A good example of several great musicians not acheiving what you expect them to.  It's not bad but
In practice I find it wears out pretty quickly

Audioslave - Out Of Exile
MP3 - Interscope - 2005

More Grunge rock

Audioslave - Revelations
MP3 - 2006

More Grunge rock

Autechre - Tri Reptae
CD - Warp - WARPCD38 - 1995

I picked up these Autechre albums on the strength of a couple of tracks from compilation albums & I have to say I do rather like them.  They most resemble some of the more obscure Aphex Twin work but with more grit, somewhat akin to early Squarepusher being played at half speed.

Autechre - EP7
MP3 - 1999

Another great gritty ambient album, if you liked Aphex Twin's Drukqs then i recommend you pick this up & have a listen.
Autechre Untitled

Autechre - Untitled
CD - Warp - WARPCD180 - 2007

Another great gritty ambient album.
Autechre Quaristice
Autechre - Quaristice
CD - Warp - WARPCD333 - 2008

Another great gritty ambient album.

The Automatic - Not Accepted Anywhere

Indie Rock, or is it called electronica nowadays?
